‘Justice League: Throne of Atlantis’ – Review

Aquaman & Mera“Justice League: Throne of Atlantis” is the sequel to 2014’s “Justice League: War.”

The main villains in this movie are Black Manta and Orm (Aquaman/Arthur Curry’s half brother). They try to get the people of Atlantis to attack the surface dwellers even though the queen of Atlantis, Queen Atlanna (the mother of Orm and Arthur), does not wish to.

As Black Manta and Orm work at getting the people of Atlantis riled up to attack the surface Queen Atlanna sends her bodyguard Mera to find Arthur and tell him about his heritage and bring him to her so the can try to make peace between the two “worlds.”

Meanwhile the Justice League are working at figuring out what happened to a sub that was attacked under water and had its missiles stolen. By following the evidence they learn about Atlantis and Arthur Curry.

Spoiler: Orm and Black Manta kill Queen Atlanna before Mera can get Arthur to her. After doing so Orm tells the people of Atlantis that surface dwellers did it so they attack Metropolis.

Arthur, Mera, and the Justice League band together to fight Black Manta and Orm in Metropolis.

This movie was good. It is worth buying on DVD/Blu-ray because if it is one thing DC knows it is how to pull off animated movies. However the movie seemed a little rushed. The storyline could have easily been two movies (which would have kicked some major ass in my opinion) the first being an Aquaman origin movie, and the second one bringing in the Justice League for a battle with Orm and Black Manta.
