This week on new comic book day the 2nd issue of “Oz: Reign of the Witch Queen” from Zenescope Entertainment gets released. It is a continuation from the previous title “Warlord of Oz.”

For those that may not have read “Warlord of Oz” yet here are the key points:

  • Glinda dies bringing Dorothy back from Kansas
  • The Warlord resurrected the arch-witch Zamora
  • The Emerald Sage, Smynth helped teach Dorothy to harness her powers
  • Big Spoiler: Dorothy finds out she is Zamora’s daughter

In this issue everyone finds out that King Samuel is dead and it people are looking for the assassin. Bartleby has had his mind altered by Dorothy, after he found her over the King’s dead body, and the story they have everyone is that they (Dorothy and Bartleby) were summoned to the King’s chamber and found him dead.

Meanwhile Warlord and Zamora have created an army which Warlord is taking to the Emerald City to battle it out with our heroes.

Smynth, Bartleby, Thorne, Adraste, and King Grizzle try to get Dorothy to take over as ruler of Oz in place of the now dead King.

My thoughts about this issue are to tell everyone to go get a copy of this book. The story is intriguing, I am curious if Dorothy is going to take after her mother and turn bad. Will she become a dictator and enslave everyone?  I hope so, even if it is only for a little while before she becomes good again somehow.

The artwork is this book is fantastic, but I can never say enough good things about the artwork in Zenescope books. So if you have a spare few dollars while you are out buying this weeks comics I strongly suggest you pick up a copy of this book, you won’t be disappointed.

Zenescope Entertainment provided a review copy of this issue to Geek Life Entertainment.
