After 29 years the Star Wars Universe returns to Marvel Comics with “Star Wars” #1. Upon checking out this inaugural issue I cannot wait until further issues are released.

The plot of the comic has Han, Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and C-3PO on Cymoon 1.  C-3PO is hiding in the Millennium Falcon in a junk yard waiting for a signal from Han to pick them up.

Chewbacca is hiding in a perch with a gun ready to shoot at anyone if there is trouble with the plan.

Meanwhile Han, Luke, Leia, and R2-D2 arrive on Cymoon in a different ship from Tattooine, when they land we see Han and R2 while Leia and Luke are disguised as guards accompanying him. Han tells the Imperial officer that they are there for negotiations on behalf of Jabba the Hutt.

When they get inside the factory they take out the Imperial guards and try to sabotage it. While R2, Han, and Leia are working Luke looks around and finds some slaves in a cage which he rescues. When they get ready to meet C-3PO they find out Vader was the negotiator they were supposed to “meet”. Vader, however, senses Luke and the alarm is set off, alerting everyone to the rebels (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and C-3PO).

This is a beautifully drawn comic Marvel has put out. The writing pulls you into the book and I am eager to see where the series goes from here. This is definitely an issue worth picking up.

As a bonus in the back of the book there are two short previews of the upcoming comic series “Vader” and “Leia”.
