‘Tales of Honor’ #5 – Review *May Contain Spoilers*

Tales of Honor
Tonight I read the fifth issue of “Tales of Honor,” a comic published by Top Cow Productions and Image Comics. It is written by Matt Hawkins and the art is done by Jung-Geun Yoon.

The story follows the plot of some of the books from the “Honorverse” and this issue begins with Honor in shackles after being sentenced in absentia for the deaths of a spaceship full of Havenites. She begins to remember the event that led her being convicted for the murder of hundreds of Havenites.

The artwork of Jung-Geun reminds me of Mortimer Glum’s art in “Escape From Jesus Island.” The digital paintings are beautiful and the whole reason I enjoyed this book as much as I did.

The writing is good, and you are given a lot of information which is great for the story. However, to me, all the writing and lettering seems to displace the artwork and takes away from the enjoyment of the book.

Overall this book is worth checking out. If you are a fan of the Honorverse it should be on your list of things to read. If you enjoy great works of art with a good story you should also check out the book.
