‘We’re The Millers’ – Review

We're the Millers

“We’re the Millers” stars Jennifer Anniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter as a group of people who get together to smuggle drugs under the guise of a family.

Jason plays David Clark, a drug dealer, who gets robbed of his stash and his cash. When his supplier wants the money David owes him he comes up with an arrangement where David goes to Mexico to pick up a “smidge” of marijuana. So David tries to figure out how to get to Mexico and back without getting caught when he comes up with the idea to masquerade as a family.

He gets his neighbor, Kenny (Will Poulter), to play his son. Rose (Jennifer Anniston), a stripper and his neighbor, to play his wife. David and Kenny find Casey (Emma Roberts), a homeless/runaway girl who stays in the neighborhood, to play the daughter. Once these three agree to help David they head down to Mexico as a vacationing family to retrieve the drugs.

We're The MillersOn the way back to Denver they have a few misadventures. First they are stopped by a Mexican policeman as they come out of compound where they got the drugs. The cop blackmails them to get some money before they are on their way.

As they make their way to the border they are stopped by the border patrol and asked to get out of the recreational vehicle they are in. So they pull over and get out knowing if the patrol man looks inside the RV he will see it is packed with around two tons of marijuana and that the “baby” Rose is holding, wrapped in a blanket, is actually a brick of marijuana.

They manage to get out of that debacle when a few Mexicans come out from under the the vehicle and start running back to the border trying to get away.

I don’t really want to give away much more of this movie so I will not say anymore about the plot. The movie however is quite funny and well worth renting from a local Redbox or OnDemand. And if you like songs from the 90’s you can jam to the song “Waterfalls” by TLC which the family uses as a celebratory song when they get away from the border patrol.

Overall I think this is definitely a movie anyone should check out.
